Meet Brandan
Brandan is not just a private chef. He prefers a more personal approach, where the creativity of food is widely accessible and collaborative. Brandan is also a content creator, entrepreneur, collaborator, and host. The heart behind “not a private chef” is to broaden the possibilities of what the culinary world can be—a place of holistic exploration and creative collaboration.
Brandan holds a diploma of Culinary Arts from the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), Los Angeles, where his training was grounded in classical French technique ranging a global scale of cuisine. Read more about Brandan’s specific style of cooking here.
In addition to his culinary education at ICE, Brandan has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Minor in Spanish, and worked for over three years in the health and wellness industry. At this point in his career, Brandan faced questions regarding the societal definition of “success” and began leaning further into his decades-long passion to cook, realizing this was his ikigai*.
Brandan is dedicated to holistic health and wellness in his work as a personal chef and implements it by taking a relational approach with his clients, shopping for the best ingredients available, and showing up daily with a positive attitude.
“Ikigai” is *a Japanese term that essentially refers to one’s “reason for living” which Brandan finds in cooking, hosting, and pleasing others with food. Recognizing his ikigai has been pivotal in determining his ambitions.
Brandan spends much of his time in the kitchen but he also fills his days with his wife, Mika, working out (either HIIT or yoga), reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, singing, praying, and introspecting.
Recognizing the need for health in all areas of life (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual) and seeing that the food one eats plays a part in each of them, Brandan is motivated to treat his clients with the upmost thought and care as their personal chef.
Brandan is currently based in Honolulu, Hawai’i. He is eager for you to be part of his journey.
