What’s the difference between a private chef and a personal chef?
A Private Chef is hired exclusively by an individual or family on a full-time basis. In contrast, a Personal Chef usually serves multiple clients and may engage in catering and event services as well. Both personal and private chefs offer a range of services tailored to their clients' specific needs, preferences, and dietary requirements.
What kind of ingredients do you use?
I exclusively utilize premium-quality ingredients for your meals, all of which are sourced from local farms, markets, and specialty stores.
Does a personal chef make special food for children?
Absolutely! Your chef will take into account everyone's preferences when planning the menu. If there are specific dietary requirements or preferences for children, it's advisable to inform your chef in advance.
How many courses are included with my dinner party or catering event?
Your event service includes a minimum of three courses, with the option to extend to a maximum of seven courses.
How do you charge for recipe development?
Recipe development services encompass a complimentary consultation. My service fee is either hourly or per recipe, depending on whether you require partial services or the entire process from start to finish.
What’s included when hiring a personal chef?
Initial consultation, multiple courses or entrees customized to your preferences, grocery shopping, advancing, cooking, kitchen clean-up, packaging, labeling, storage, and follow-up.
Do you deliver meals?
Certainly! Personal chefs are indeed available for drop-off meal services. The typical cost for hiring a chef for meal delivery ranges from $150 to $350 or more per delivery, and you can expect to receive three meals, two salads, and two snacks per person.
Can I add additional dishes to what my chef suggests?
Certainly! If you ever feel the need for a little extra, you can always add an additional side, salad, or soup. Just let me know!
How many guests can you serve?
Brandan specializes in events of 2–20 guests, just ask!
How do you determine the budget for these events?
The budget for each party is customized based on factors such as guest count, style, size, and menu complexity. Your total will include a service fee, covering the chef's labor, and a grocery budget. The average grocery budget ranges from $50 to $100 per person. Once menu details are discussed, your chef can provide an estimate, present a final budget for your approval, request a deposit, and potentially finalize arrangements with an event contract.
Are groceries included?
The cost of groceries is distinct from the chef's fee. This separation is implemented to guarantee that you obtain high-quality, organic meats, fresh produce, and pantry staples.
Is the menu the same every time when hiring a personal chef?
It's entirely up to you. Your personal chef will craft a fresh menu for you on each occasion. Some clients can go for months without experiencing a repeated meal.
How do I choose between a plated dinner or a buffet?
A buffet allows guests to serve themselves with varying amounts of food either from chafing dishes or "family-style" at the table. It's great for casual events with diverse tastes, although it may cost more due to increased food quantities, often resulting in leftovers. On the other hand, plated dinners, resembling restaurant service, are more formal and suitable for business dinners and special occasions.
Do you have servers?
Though I do not have a staff working with me, I do have a network of cooks and servers that I can call upon to support with larger events and celebrations. Kindly share your thoughts or preferences regarding your event and I will let you know our options. The standard pay rate for servers is $35 per hour, while bartenders typically earn $50 per hour.
